The swimming spots of the Dordogne are among the most beautiful natural places in France.
The river itself shapes the charm of the Périgord Noir with its picturesque banks.
Its clear waters offer countless opportunities – from tranquil natural pools to small sandy beaches.
Swimming in the Dordogne is not only refreshing but also known to promote well-being and strengthen the immune system.

Between Trémolat and the confluence with the Vézère, one picture-perfect landscape follows another.
Beynac-et-Cazenac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, La Roque-Gageac and Domme are among the most beautiful villages in France.
In this section of the river, many idyllic swimming spots can be found – easy to reach yet still preserving their natural charm.
Several of them are only a few minutes away from the Manoir Le Conte.

Pont de Course, St. Cybranet

Small sandy beaches await about 200 metres upstream from the bridge, accessible through orchards or directly from the D50 road.
Another small beach is located at Camping Ombrage, about 600 metres further upstream along the D50.
This section of the Céou River is among the quieter and most natural swimming spots in the Périgord Noir.

Base de Loisirs, Groléjac

For those who prefer warmer water, this is a family-friendly alternative to the Dordogne.
The large swimming lake features a fine sandy beach and noticeably milder temperatures.
Access is easy: follow the D704 south and turn right 2.4 kilometres after crossing the Dordogne bridge (well signposted).
Entrance fee is around €2.

Les Pendoilles, La Roque-Gageac

A charming swimming spot lies just 700 metres east of La Roque-Gageac, directly beneath the white cliffs.
To reach it, turn right from the D703 towards Les Pinasse / Canoë Vacances.
Then follow the path keeping left, and after about 500 metres turn right towards the canoe station.
The small beach, framed by spectacular cliffs, is perfect for a refreshing swim.

Domme

A peaceful natural cove awaits about one kilometre after Domme along the D50.
A short footpath of around 300 metres leads to a small pebble bay right on the Dordogne River.
This spot is perfect for a relaxing swim in unspoilt nature, offering both tranquillity and easy access.
An inviting place to linger and enjoy the calm of the Périgord Noir.

Plage Soleil, Vitrac

“Plage Soleil” in Vitrac is one of the best-known swimming spots along the Dordogne.
The large south-facing sandy beach offers a splendid view of the cliffs of Caudon.
Access is easy: follow the D703/D50 about one kilometre east, then turn right to the parking area and walk the last 50 metres.
For a culinary break, the restaurant La Bouysse (+33 5 53 28 33 05) is right nearby – reservations recommended.

Cingle de Montfort

An impressive river bend awaits near Montfort.
Here you’ll find a small, pebbled beach that ranks among the most scenic swimming spots along the Dordogne.
To reach it, drive north from Montfort on the D703 for about one kilometre, then turn right into a small parking area about 150 metres after the junction (La Roque, Inka).
A short path of around 400 metres leads down to the riverbank.
